# Brightword

> Brightword is a free Bible verse widget app for iPhone. Every morning it puts a new verse and a new picture on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, with the verses following the church year (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and the weeks between). Free to download, with optional Pro. Coming soon on the App Store, for iPhone with iOS 18 or later.

## What makes it different

- The verses follow the church year, so Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter each have their own.
- Every verse in the daily rotation is chosen by hand to stand on its own.
- Each morning brings a new picture, with lettering to match, from the collection you choose.

## How to add it to the Home Screen

Install Brightword, then on the iPhone Home Screen press and hold a blank spot, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Brightword (small, medium or large). Or press and hold the Brightword icon and pick a size. The app shows the steps the first time it opens. On the Lock Screen: press and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, then add Brightword under the clock or beside the date.

## What it does

- A new verse and a new picture every morning in Home Screen widgets (small, medium and large), on the Lock Screen (under the clock, in a circle or beside the date) and in StandBy.
- The verses follow the church year (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost, with ordinary weeks between), so each season brings its own verses; with Pro, Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter bring their own pictures too.
- Every verse in the daily rotation was chosen by hand and kept only if it brings comfort, hope or wisdom on its own, without the chapter around it.
- Each verse is set to fit its widget; when a whole verse won't fit, the widget shows a short form chosen by hand, never cut off with an ellipsis.
- One tap opens the verse in its chapter. The whole Bible is on the device and works offline, in two translations: the Berean Standard Bible (BSB) and the King James Version (KJV), both public domain.
- Streaks with a grace day each week, reminders at times you choose, and optional prayers and affirmations.

## Free and Pro

- Free: the daily verse on every widget, the whole Bible with search, saving verses with notes, sharing, reminders and the First Light collection of pictures.
- Brightword Pro (yearly or monthly; prices are shown in the app before you buy): every picture collection, including the seasonal ones and New Every Morning (a different collection each day), Lock Screen wallpapers with the day's verse set into the picture, the Topic and Saved widgets, and every reading plan opened at once.
- Platform: iPhone with iOS 18 or later. There is no Android version.
- No sign-in is needed. Cancel Pro in iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Brightword.
